Preorder my book!
forgive us as we pause our regularly scheduled programming
LOOK! IT’S THE PRE-ORDER LINK FOR THE U.S. VERSION OF MY BOOK!
that’s right folks, it’s finally here, can you believe? all this time and all those people in the UK could read the UK version. well, now U.S. (and Canadians? maybe?) can too.
(ALSO sorry to everyone getting this who simply used my form to signed up to be notified of this link - my plan had been just to send you a straight email, but gmail told me that i was spam. :( me! spam! just because i talk all the time and try to send 300 emails at one time! anyway, don’t worry - you shouldn’t be signed up as an automatic subscriber to the chilliad; i did like a ‘1 week free trial’ so it should expire in 7 days and leave you alone. if it doesn’t, of course feel free to unsubscribe!)
FAQ
what’s different in the versions?
a few small stylistic things. also: the U.S. version is 10,000 words longer. ish. also: the U.S. version is set in 2014 instead of 2021.
wait what?
i know. it doesn’t change anything, i promise. the hyper-specific references have changed. that’s all. COVID wasn’t even really in the first one.
but why?
well, fairly i thought, my editor was like, “i think these gals don’t talk like gen z. they talk like millennials, when millennials were teenagers. so your options are to make them teenaged millennials or try to sound more like gen z.”
and i said, “let’s just make it 2014 so that i’m not rolling up like Hello Fellow Kids.”
so that’s why.
which version is better?
i genuinely think both versions are good.
but which version is your favorite?
i’ve had to read them both so many times for editing purposes that i hate them both.
you hate them?!
no, i love them, they are my beautiful twins born a year apart, but i need to send them off to boarding school for a year so that i can miss them.
ok fair. so i should buy the U.S. version?
you should buy whichever version you want. buy ‘em both! but one version will likely cost more to ship. so really, speak to your financial advisor and make a call from there.
any other news?
oh. yeah. i have a new song out. it’s called “rothko” and it’s about abstract expressionism and overcoming despair. :)
