okay, team. here’s the deal. i have finished grad school (good job, me!) and am now, uhhhh, well, can it be called “job hunting” when what you are doing is standing in the middle of the forest and all the deer are, like, on vacation so you’re basically just building little castles out of fallen acorns?
anyway in a more practical sense what that means is i’ve applied for 800 jobs a day and by the time that’s done it’s still only like, 11am, and that’s terrible because as it turns OUT i do not THRIVE without TASKS. so! tasks it is. i can’t keep sleeping until 10am. i am Too Old to be a teenager again.
i’ve gotten a few asks and requests for like, side-stories, character backgrounds, etc., and i wanted to start collecting some. i’ve opened up the option to do a paid subscription ($5/month, and just so you know when they asked me to describe my audience i literally just said “nerds”) which will have access to these as i write them. the goal is to post at least one per month, on the 15th.
this does not affect access to the actual chilliad, which will of course continue to be posted for free for everybody, whenever the chapters are finished. hopefully not six months out this time.
subscribe if you want! or don’t. as i said, the chilliad itself will always always always be free.
obviously money is exchanged for goods and services, but if you desperately want to subscribe and can’t at this time for financial reasons, reach out to me, here or on twitter (@ofgeography, duh). very dumb for people not to be able to access silly fraternity au content because of a $5/month barrier. we’ll figure it out, moonbird!
a n y w a y for the purposes of this thread, requests might include but do not have to be limited to:
character backstories
adaptations of intersecting myths (someone asked for medusa a while ago, so, i’ve got that one noted already)
questions you’d like answered that won’t be part of the narrative (ie — not something like “how are you going to adapt [x scene]” because you’ll FIND OUT, DUMMY)
questions you’d like the characters themselves to answer (what if we did an AMA, but like, in-character. is that too close to LARPing. are we too cool for LARPing?)
etc etc etc

I would kill for more Odysseus. Like, why is he so jaded with his fellow frat bros, and what would be the frat bro equivalent of the Odyssey? This should also include more Penelope, because she's awesome in the Odyssey and more people should recognize that.
they're both working at the same shitty startup company to make ends meet but Odysseus is getting sent all around the world to like, talk to investors and raise funding by visiting all of these billionaire's eccentric little fiefdoms while Penny has to stay at HQ and manage the HR department or Sales or something
i mean id like to know how a kid named virgil manages to hear of this and the lengths to which he goes to make sure homer knows he's his #1 fan but i just love this.

Just want to say that on Tuesday I had a real gross day full of blood tests and other medical crap and when I got home and opened my email I found hour 6 waiting for me! A true gift! Thank you for writing the chilliad, it it such an absolute joy
that sounds like a terrible tuesday, and i'm sorry that you had it. but i'm VERY extremely happy to have had such wonderful accidental timing. i don't feel so sorry for making everyone else wait half a year to have nailed this timing for you on a bad day.
i'd love more content of achilles and patroclus! or cassandra if she exists? is she a jaded terrible ex of apollo's? i also think it could be fun to see the current cast going through their hazing process as freshman!
